Google DeepMind Unveils SynthID: Invisible Watermarks for Trustworthy AI‑Generated Content
Google DeepMind has introduced SynthID, an innovative watermarking system that embeds invisible, tamper‑proof signatures into AI‑generated images, audio, text, and video. The technology is designed to help creators, platforms, and consumers verify the origin of synthetic media, bolstering transparency and trust in the rapidly expanding generative‑AI landscape.
SynthID works by subtly altering the pixel‑level or acoustic patterns of generated content in a way that is imperceptible to human eyes and ears but can be reliably detected by Google’s Gemini models. A dedicated DeepMind page explains the underlying method, while a public SynthID Detector lets anyone upload media to check for the hidden watermark.
