Honor Unveils Robot Phone with 200‑MP Gimbal Camera at MWC 2026
At this year’s Mobile World Congress, Honor introduced a groundbreaking device that blurs the line between smartphone and robot – the Honor Robot Phone. Built around a 200‑megapixel camera mounted on a motorised gimbal, the phone promises unprecedented video‑stabilisation and creative flexibility for both casual creators and professional videographers.
The robot phone’s gimbal can rotate 360° and tilt up to 180°, allowing users to capture smooth, cinematic footage without a separate stabiliser. Integrated AI‑driven features automatically track subjects, adjust exposure, and suggest composition tips in real time. Honor says the device can also function as a handheld drone‑like platform, extending its reach for unique angles.
Beyond the camera, the phone runs Honor’s latest HarmonyOS, supports 5G, and includes a 6.8‑inch OLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate. Battery life has been optimised for the power‑hungry gimbal system, offering up to 24 hours of mixed‑use operation.
While the concept is ambitious, industry analysts note that the robot phone will face stiff competition from established action‑camera manufacturers and emerging AI‑camera smartphones. Nonetheless, Honor’s move signals a clear shift toward more versatile, AI‑enhanced mobile imaging solutions.
