X Energy Secures $700M Series D Funding to Accelerate SMR Deployment

X Energy, the U.S. developer of advanced small modular reactors (SMRs), announced a $700 million Series D financing round, bringing its total capital raised to $1.8 billion. The new capital will be used to expand its SMR supply chain and accelerate the construction of 144 reactors for customers including Amazon, Dow and Centrica.
The funding round was led by prominent venture investors and includes participation from existing backers. The investment aligns with Amazon’s Climate Pledge, as the e‑commerce giant is a key customer for X Energy’s clean‑energy solutions.
X Energy’s SMR design features a high‑temperature gas‑cooled reactor that can generate up to 300 MW of electricity, offering a flexible, low‑carbon alternative for industrial and utility markets. The company plans to showcase its technology at the upcoming Disrupt 2026 conference.
Tim De Chant, senior editor at TechCrunch, highlighted the significance of the raise, noting that the capital influx positions X Energy to become a major player in the rapidly growing nuclear‑energy sector.
