Mercedes Introduces Steer‑by‑Wire Yoke on Refreshed EQS Sedan
Mercedes‑Benz has taken a bold step in electric‑vehicle cockpit design by debuting a first‑generation steer‑by‑wire system paired with a futuristic steering yoke on the refreshed EQS. After more than one million kilometres of testing, the automaker now offers buyers a choice between the new yoke and a traditional steering wheel, both powered by electronic actuation that eliminates the mechanical link to the front wheels.
The steer‑by‑wire architecture provides two independent safety paths, ensuring redundancy in case of a failure, while also delivering significant weight savings and greater design freedom for the interior.
