iOS Security Flaw DarkSword Exploit Hits iPhone Users in 2026 – Massive iOS 18 Hack
A new, sophisticated attack dubbed DarkSword is targeting iOS 18 devices, exploiting six previously unknown vulnerabilities to gain full control of iPhones and iPads. Security researchers estimate that up to 30 million devices could be at risk, making it one of the largest iOS‑related threats of the year.
The exploit chain was uncovered by a collaboration between Google Threat Intelligence Group, Lookout, and iVerify. By chaining together a series of privilege‑escalation bugs, the attackers can bypass Apple’s sandbox, access user data, and even install persistent backdoors without user interaction.
Apple has already begun rolling out emergency patches, but the company warns that devices running older iOS 18 builds may remain vulnerable until the next update cycle. Users are urged to update to the latest iOS version as soon as it becomes available.
