Rivian’s Also Spinoff Secures Funding and Partners with DoorDash for Autonomous Delivery Vehicles

The newly formed Rivian spinoff, Also, has announced a $200 million Series C funding round that will accelerate its plans to build autonomous delivery vehicles for DoorDash. The round was led by Sequoia Capital with participation from existing investors and strategic partners.
Also’s vision is to create a fleet of electric, self‑driving vans and e‑bikes that can handle the “last‑mile” delivery challenge for food and goods. The partnership with DoorDash will see the first batch of vehicles deployed in major U.S. metro areas later this year, providing a testbed for the company’s autonomous technology stack.
Beyond the DoorDash collaboration, the funding will also support the development of a broader product lineup, including a high‑performance e‑bike aimed at urban couriers and a modular delivery van platform that can be customized for different payloads.
