Google Gemini Introduces Voice‑Driven Task Automation on Android
Google has rolled out a new voice‑assistant feature for its Gemini AI, allowing Android users to command third‑party apps such as Uber, DoorDash, and Grubhub directly from the assistant. The capability, first available on the upcoming Galaxy S26 and Pixel 10 devices, lets users request rides, order food, and perform other tasks without opening the apps themselves.
Powered by Gemini’s advanced reasoning engine, the feature interprets natural‑language requests, translates them into app‑specific actions, and executes them while preserving user privacy. All interactions are processed locally where possible, and data is encrypted before being sent to partner services.
The rollout begins in the United States and South Korea, with plans to expand globally and to additional services in the future. This move highlights Google’s broader strategy to embed generative AI deeper into everyday mobile experiences.
