Casio Unveils Retro‑Gaming Inspired SX‑C1 Sampler Prototype at NAMM 2026

Casio has revealed a bold new concept in music‑production hardware – the SX‑C1 sampler, a prototype that blends classic arcade aesthetics with modern sampling technology. First shown on the NAMM show floor, the device features a compact chassis, neon‑lit buttons reminiscent of vintage arcade panels, and a 16‑step sequencer that supports up to 16‑bit, 44.1 kHz audio files.

Designed to appeal to producers who grew up on pixel‑perfect games, the SX‑C1 includes a 4‑inch LCD display, dual‑zone velocity‑sensitive pads, and a built‑in USB‑C port for quick sample import. Its internal memory can hold up to 2 GB of audio, while the battery‑powered operation promises up to 8 hours of on‑stage use.

Although Casio has not announced a launch date or pricing, the prototype hints at a possible 2027 release. The company says the sampler is part of a broader “retro‑future” line that will also explore synthesizers and drum machines.
