Zoox Expands Robotaxi Service to Austin and Miami

Zoox, Amazon’s self‑driving car unit, announced a major expansion of its robotaxi fleet, rolling out service in Austin, Texas and Miami, Florida. The move follows recent growth in its existing markets of San Francisco and Las Vegas, where the company has logged nearly 2 million autonomous miles and served over 350 000 riders.

The Austin launch includes a free‑ride program for residents, while Miami will see a similar introductory offer aimed at boosting early adoption. Both cities are working with local regulators to secure the necessary exemptions for driver‑less operation, mirroring Zoox’s ongoing efforts in other jurisdictions.

Key new features highlighted by Zoox include Bluetooth audio streaming, an in‑app “Find My Zoox” locator, and enhanced safety protocols. The company also reaffirmed its partnership with Uber, which will continue to list Zoox rides on the Uber platform, giving users a seamless booking experience.

Industry analysts view the expansion as a strong signal that autonomous mobility is moving from pilot projects to broader commercial deployment. For a full read of the original story, visit TechCrunch.
