Android 17 Beta 2 Starts Rolling Out to Pixel Devices

Google has begun the phased rollout of Android 17 Beta 2 to eligible Pixel smartphones, marking the next step toward the upcoming Android 17 release. Early adopters can now experience the latest features, performance improvements, and visual refinements that the beta brings.

The update is currently available for Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 6, and Pixel 5a devices. Users can check for the update in Settings → System → Advanced → System update. As with previous betas, the rollout is staggered, so some devices may receive the update later.

Key highlights of Android 17 Beta 2 include:

  • Enhanced privacy controls with more granular permission settings.
  • Improved battery management and background app optimization.
  • Refined Material You theming with new color palettes.
  • Performance boosts for core system services and faster app launch times.

Developers are encouraged to test their apps against the new APIs and report any issues via the Android Issue Tracker. Feedback from beta participants will help Google polish the final release.
