Cash App Launches Buy Now Pay Later for P2P Transfers – Fintech Innovation

Cash App has rolled out a new “Buy Now, Pay Later” (BNPL) option that lets users split peer‑to‑peer (P2P) payments into installments, marking a fresh fintech milestone. The feature, available to eligible users in the United States, applies a modest fee of 2.99% on the financed amount and offers flexible repayment terms of up to six weeks.

According to Cash App’s product lead, the BNPL service is designed to give users more purchasing power while maintaining the simplicity of the Cash App ecosystem. Users can select the “Buy Now, Pay Later” toggle during a P2P transfer, and the amount will be automatically divided into equal payments. The service integrates with existing fraud‑prevention tools and complies with federal lending regulations.

Industry analysts see the move as a strategic response to growing competition from other digital wallets that have introduced similar credit‑based features. By embedding BNPL directly into P2P transfers, Cash App aims to increase transaction frequency and deepen user engagement.
