Samsung Galaxy S21 Officially Reaches End‑of‑Life – What It Means for Users

Samsung has announced that the Galaxy S21 series will officially reach its end‑of‑life (EOL) status, ending software updates and security patches for the devices. The decision follows the company’s typical support window of two years for Android OS upgrades and an additional year for security updates. Users of the S21, S21+, and S21 Ultra should expect the final Android version to be Android 13, with no further major OS upgrades beyond this point.

While the devices will no longer receive new features, Samsung will continue to provide critical security updates for a limited period, ensuring protection against major vulnerabilities. However, after the final security patch, the phones will no longer be supported, which may affect app compatibility and performance over time.

Owners are encouraged to consider upgrading to newer models such as the Galaxy S22 or S23 series to benefit from the latest software enhancements, camera improvements, and longer support cycles. For those who wish to keep their S21 devices, it is advisable to back up data regularly and stay vigilant about app updates that may still be compatible.
